What to Visit? Gianyar’s Hidden Geological Gem. https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/what-to-visit-gianyars-hidden-geological-gem-2/ Tue, 14 Nov 2023 13:21:57 +0000 https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/?p=8933 What’s not to love about Bali’s pristine beaches, bucolic rice terraces and vibrant culture. But the island has so much more on offer only a fraction of visitors discover. On your next visit, take a trip away from the bustling tourist hubs and seek out Beji Guwang Hidden Canyon. A geological gem formed by a relentless river force over millions of years, Beji Guwang features a stunning labyrinth of rocky canyons framed by towering cliffs. About an hour’s drive from Bali Garden Beach Resort, the canyon is located in the village of Guwang, Gianyar. Visit during the dry season, typically from April through September when the water levels are lower so you can hike the canyon then cool off with a refreshing dip in the river pools. Ask Guest Services to assist you with organising transport and a tour guide to help you navigate the canyon safely and explain the history of the area.

Bird Watchers Flock to National Park to Spot Bali Starling https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/bird-watchers-flock-to-national-park-to-spot-bali-starling/ Wed, 28 Jun 2023 01:59:16 +0000 https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/?p=7213 A paradise for nature lovers, bird watchers from across the globe are travelling to our tiny island to catch a glimpse of the elusive Bali Starling (Bali Myna). Recently saved from the brink of extinction thanks to conservation efforts, this striking bird now has two Bali strongholds; in Nusa Penida and West Bali National Park. What makes this recovery so remarkable is the role local community played in reintroducing the bird to its natural habitat. As recently as 2015 there were just 57 known Bali Starlings in West Bali National Park however the latest figures now indicate over 450 birds in the area. Endemic to Bali, this stunning bird is stark white with black tipped wings and turquoise blue around the eyes. Talk to our team on the Tour Desk at Bali Garden Beach Resort to arrange a tour of West Bali National Park during your next visit and be sure to take a pic of this incredible local specimen should you manage to spot one!

Looking for Things to Do and See in Bali? https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/looking-for-things-to-do-and-see-in-bali/ Sat, 04 Mar 2023 03:59:34 +0000 https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/?p=6160 With so many awesome Bali adventures to mention, we thought we’d offer a few recommendations for some unique island experiences. Love your coffee? How about pairing your Bali brew with a view! Sample the island’s authentic Balinese coffee made from single origin Arabica beans sourced from plantations in the Kintamani highlands, 900m above sea level. Stop in at a coffee shop along Penelokan Road to Kedisan and Kintamani where you can enjoy an authentic Balinese brew and a panoramic view of Mt Batur and the crescent shaped lake below. Dare to up the ante on the adventure by crossing the island’s longest glass bridge. Completed in November 2022, Bali Glass Bridge is 190m long and 40m above sea level. Visitors traversing the bridge benefit from a picturesque bird’s eye view of the Petanu River below. Top off your day in the mountains with a visit to Omma Day Club in Ginayar. Lounge, dine and drink in a jungle paradise as you gaze over the crystal cascades of Tegenungan Waterfall.

MAMA JEAN IS A LADY WHO LOVE’S TO TEACH SWIMMING AND SURF LIFE SAVING https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/mama-jean-is-a-lady-who-loves-to-teach-swimming-and-surf-life-saving/ Sat, 16 Nov 2019 08:07:09 +0000 http://www.wdesignbali.com/new/?p=2901 Jean Burling is her name and to us she is affectionately known as “Mama Jean”. She has been traveling to Bali since 1979 and taught swimming and surf life saving skills throughout Indonesia for over 25 years. Mama Jean first came to Bali Garden in early 2000. Since 2016 she began teaching Agus (Front Desk Supervisor) and the security team in swimming and continues to do so every time she comes back to Bali. Mama Jean is hoping that all the staff can join in the swimming lessons, because for her “swimming is very important, as we live on an Island surrounded by the water” We at Bali Garden are so glad that Mama Jean has taught them so well and has also taught staff in rescue techniques in the ocean as well as the hotel pools. Thank you Mama Jean for the great work and passing on your skills so we can continue the training and create a safe environment for all ! Here as some photos of the security team and Agus (Front Desk Supervisor) in action.

INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP https://www.baligardenbeachresort.com/international-coastal-cleanup/ Wed, 11 Sep 2019 08:19:42 +0000 http://www.wdesignbali.com/new/?p=2920 Harnessing the Power of People to Fight Ocean Trash The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago, when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline. The movement was catalyzed by the passion and spirit of two committed individuals. Back in 1986, Linda Maraniss moved to Texas from Washington, DC, where she had been working for Ocean Conservancy. She’d been inspired by the work her Ocean Conservancy colleague Kathy O’Hara was doing on a groundbreaking report called Plastics in the Ocean: More than a Litter Problem that would be published the next year. Linda and Kathy reached out to the Texas General Land Office, local businesses and other dedicated ocean-lovers, and planned what would become Ocean Conservancy’s first Cleanup. They asked volunteers to go beyond picking up trash and record each item collected on a standardized data card in order to identify ways to eliminate ocean trash in the future. The Cleanup has grown immensely in the 30 years since Linda and Kathy’s first Cleanup. Volunteers from states and territories throughout the U.S. and more than 100 countries come together each year and participate in a Cleanup event near them. Bali Garden Beach Resort will join this event that held on 21 September 2019 start from 07.00 – onwards along to the Kuta beach until German Beach. Many hotels in Bali also participated in this annual event that will held on the beach close with their hotel.
