Plastic pollution poses a massive problem for our oceans. It’s up to us to make a difference as every action, no matter how small, can have a huge impact. That’s why, on September 16th, 2023, we proudly took part in celebrating World Clean-up Day, conducting a beach clean-up behind the resort. Eighteen participants, representing all hotel departments, were divided into teams to collect and record. Our goal was to not only clean the beach but gather valuable data on the type and quantity of trash collected, using the Clean Swell App to maintain accuracy. 20 kilograms of trash was collected on World Clean-up Day. At Bali Garden Beach Resort, we continue our commitment to keeping Bali clean on a daily basis.

A Cultural Feast Awaits with Bali Arts Festival 2023

The 45^th edition of The Bali Arts Festival is set to feature the talents of thousands of Balinese and international artists over the month-long event from June 18 – July 16. This year’s theme is “The Oceans as the Source of Civilization”. The Grand Opening Parade in Denpasar will feature contingents from Bali’s nine regencies, performers from the Indonesian Arts Institute and representatives from outer islands including Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Sleman, Bekasi, East Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara, bringing a wealth of cultural experiences to the festival. Guests can enjoy a variety of culinary and handicraft stalls, exhibitions, music and performances based at the Denpasar Arts Centre. Bali’s cultural celebration doesn’t stop there! The charity swim raises funds for Bali Sports Foundation to support swimming programs for those who struggle with a disability. Attracting hundreds of athletes from around the world, top swimmers will converge on Kuta to compete across three distances – 1.2km, 5km and 10km. Categories for the shorter courses include Junior, Adult and Masters, while the 10km swim is an open event. This year’s swim is supported by Balawista Lifeguards who set the course and provide support and supervision for competitors throughout the event and Bali Garden Beach Resort guests will have the best seats in the house for this year’s race! Chairman of the Bali Tourism Village Communication Forum believes this trend is here to stay which means positive news for adventure and cultural tour operators across the island. The latest influx of tourists to Bali are not only seeking out its phenomenal geographical features, they also have a taste for adventure. Extending beyond surf safaris and ocean adventures, many of Bali’s 238 tourist villages; the most popular being in the Ubud area, Ginayar and Bangli Regency, are offering adventure tourism experiences like white water rafting, mountain climbing, cycling, waterfall jumping, tubing and hiking. MAMA JEAN IS A LADY WHO LOVE’S TO TEACH SWIMMING AND SURF LIFE SAVING

Jean Burling is her name and to us she is affectionately known as “Mama Jean”. She has been traveling to Bali since 1979 and taught swimming and surf life saving skills throughout Indonesia for over 25 years. Mama Jean first came to Bali Garden in early 2000. Since 2016 she began teaching Agus (Front Desk Supervisor) and the security team in swimming and continues to do so every time she comes back to Bali. Mama Jean is hoping that all the staff can join in the swimming lessons, because for her “swimming is very important, as we live on an Island surrounded by the water” We at Bali Garden are so glad that Mama Jean has taught them so well and has also taught staff in rescue techniques in the ocean as well as the hotel pools. Thank you Mama Jean for the great work and passing on your skills so we can continue the training and create a safe environment for all !
